Abstract

The aim of this research is to design a comprehensive Islamic model for complicated grief treatment. This study utilized a descriptive method, specifically content analysis, and was validated by six experts in Islamic sciences and psychology. By studying, reviewing, and analyzing Islamic sources on death, grief, and mourning, an Islamic model for complicated grief treatment was inferred, extracted, and structured in the form of five strategies and 37 therapeutic components aimed at emotional regulation, behavioral regulation and lifestyle, cognitive restructuring, linguistic regulation, and strengthening the inner peace of the bereaved. The Islamic model for grief treatment can serve as a theoretical and practical basis for Islamic psychological interventions in coping with and treating grief. It can assist psychologists and counselors working with Muslim clients suffering from abnormal and complicated grief in resolving their emotional, cognitive, and spiritual problems. Furthermore, the presentation of this model is considered a step forward in the advancement and progress of Islamic psychology.
