The present research was conducted with the aim of achieving the foundations of parenting based on Islamic sources, including verses from the Holy Quran and narrations. Given that foundations inform "what is" and are imperative, and all principles, methods, strategies, and techniques in any subject are based upon them, they must be self-evident or proven. Despite the importance and necessity of parenting by biological parents in Islam, the foundations of parenting from an Islamic perspective have not been explored. Therefore, what further emphasizes the need to address this research gap is the socio-cultural current in even Muslim societies, which is moving towards the disintegration of the family and the questioning of parenting foundations, especially by feminists. According to this, the foundations of parenting are examined in a qualitative study using an analytical method and based on Islamic sources. The research findings indicated five foundations for parenting: biological, psychological, socio-cultural, legal, and religious. Among these, the psychological foundation has two sub-categories: child-centered and parent-centered. The biological foundation is specific to women, and the legal foundation is specific to men.
