Abstract

The present study was conducted with the purpose of investigating the relationship between students' academic self-efficacy, mother's personality traits and students' self-control. The population of this research was formed by male and female high school students of Qom province. A total of 156 people from the aforementioned community were selected by the cluster sampling from male and female high schools in the District 2 of Qom province. To collect data, three questionnaires were used: Jinks' student self-efficacy scale, Rafieihonar's self-control questionnaire, and the short-form of NEO five-factor inventory. Data were analyzed by the Pearson correlation coefficient and regression. The findings of the research showed the following points: a) there is a significant positive correlation between academic self-efficacy, students' self-control and mother's personality traits; b) the prediction of academic self-efficacy based on personality traits and self-control is significant and c) self-control and four personality factors (except conscientiousness) predict a total of 53% of respondents' academic self-efficacy. According to the findings, it can be concluded that in order to increase academic self-efficacy in teenagers, more than anything, the attention should be paid to strengthening their self-control, and next, it is very important to pay attention to mothers' personality traits.
