Abstract

This study aimed to develop a marital life model based on a positive psychology approach and Islamic psychology and to examine the effectiveness of the developed model on the patience of conflicted couples. The research employed a mixed-methods approach. The qualitative phase utilized a phenomenological method with a target population of couple therapists, purposive sampling, and semi-structured interviews for data collection. The quantitative phase followed a quasi-experimental design. The statistical population included all conflicted couples in Tehran in 2022, from which 30 individuals were randomly selected and assigned to experimental and control groups. The quantitative tools included the Sanaei Marital Conflict Questionnaire and a Patience Questionnaire. Quantitative data were analyzed using covariance analysis. In the qualitative phase, participant experiences revealed a main theme of "psychology and positive thinking" and sub-themes including "piety and religious beliefs, Islamic ethics, gratitude, positive coping, strengthening positive emotions, positive communication skills, enhancing positive capacities, and positive and negative beliefs."The quantitative findings indicated that the developed intervention model significantly influenced the patience of conflicted couples. It is recommended that couple therapists and family counselors apply this model in practice.
