This study aimed to present a model for predicting psychological hardiness based on happiness and religious adherence. The statistical population in this correlational-descriptive study consisted of young people aged 18 to 34 years who were living in Qom Province, Iran, 114 of whom were selected as the sample through convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Ahvaz Hardiness Inventory, the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire, and the Religiosity Questionnaire of Jan Bozorgi (2018).
Pearson correlation coefficient and linear regression analysis were then employed to analyze the data and test the research hypotheses. Results showed that there was a significant and positive correlation between psychological hardiness and happiness, psychological hardiness and religious adherence, and also happiness and religious adherence. The path analysis results indicated that religious adherence and happiness can significantly predict psychological hardiness, as they predicted about 46.4% of the variance of psychological hardiness. The study findings suggest that enhancing happiness and religious adherence within families and in educational, religious, and counseling settings will further improve individuals’ psychological resilience.
