The present study aimed to conceptualize emotional self-awareness within the framework of Islamic mysticism. The research method was a qualitative content analysis of religious texts (Shojaei, 2020). To this end, terms and concepts related to emotional self-awareness in Islamic mystical literature were first collected. In the next stage, these terms and concepts were examined using text pre-processing principles. Inferential contents related to each concept and proposition were recorded alongside them on an analysis form. Through analysis and categorization of these inferential contents, the components of emotional self-awareness were extracted. These components were then evaluated for content validity by experts using CVI and CVR metrics. After incorporating expert feedback, eleven components were finalized: recognition of the true self, identification of personal beliefs, awareness of personal values, recognition of positive emotions, recognition of negative emotions, understanding of one’s feelings, awareness of the consequences of emotions, ability to regulate emotions, awareness of emotion-inducing factors, readiness for positive change, and inclination to make optimal and constructive use of emotions. Based on these components, a conceptual model of emotional self-awareness in Islamic mysticism was developed. The findings of this study pave the way for designing measurement tools and educational programs related to mystical emotional self-awareness.
